Encouraged "Free Play"
Circle Time
For many children, entering our Preschool classroom is their first school experience. The child’s happiness and sense of security in the classroom is our top priority. As the children become familiar with the teachers, the classroom, and their surroundings… all else falls into place. They learn socialization skills, which enable them to make new friends, to be good friends, and to express themselves. The children are encouraged to explore the many learning centers during “free play” – blocks, the writing center, the art center, our sand and water table, math and manipulatives, dramatic play, science area, and more. As part of our routine, the children also participate in circle time, which consists of various themes, stories, finger plays, and songs. We also do small group activities, which include science lessons, art, cooking, and educational games. Our ultimate goal for each child is to have a preschool experience that builds self-confidence, to make new friends, to grow socially and developmentally, and to have happy memories of school. This experience is the first stepping-stone of many, and we want the children to feel positive about themselves as they venture forward.
Childcare subsidies are available for RCC student-parents who are taking classes online or in person!
