Ages 3-4 years old
For many children, entering our Preschool classroom is their first school experience. The child’s happiness and sense of security in the classroom is our top priority. As the children become familiar with the teachers, the classroom, and their surroundings…all else falls into place. They learn socialization skills, which enable them to make new friends, to be good friends, and to express themselves. The children are encouraged to explore the many learning centers during “free play” – blocks, the writing center, the art center, our sand and water table, math and manipulatives, dramatic play, science area, and more. As part of our routine, the children also participate in circle time, which consists of various themes, stories, finger plays, and songs. We also do small group activities, which include science lessons, art, cooking, and educational games. Our ultimate goal for each child is to have a preschool experience that builds self-confidence, to make new friends, to grow socially and developmentally, and to have happy memories of school. This experience is the first stepping-stone of many, and we want the children to feel positive about themselves as they venture forward.
Carol Quaglia (Preschool Teacher) has been a Teacher since 1983, and has been working at Fun and Learn since 2008. She graduated with her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from SUNY Cortland, and has since taught in Kindergarten, Prekindergarten, and Preschool classrooms as well as spending many summers as a camp counselor. Carol dreamed of being a teacher since she was a child. She feels very fortunate to have been able to follow this dream. To Carol, teaching the young child is very rewarding. The children are like “open books”, and knowing that she is helping them through the first chapters of their learning experience is wonderful. Every day is different, and it can be filled with challenges as well as with gifts. Watching a child succeed in a task, seeing the excitement on his or her face, is truly special. Carol feels that Campus Fun and Learn is a wonderful place to teach. She is very happy and fortunate to be the Preschool Teacher. The philosophy of the school is one in which she believes wholeheartedly. The children are allowed to explore, discover, and learn at their own individual paces. They are given the opportunity to run, laugh, and be children. When not working, Carol loves to be outdoors whether it is bicycle riding, skiing, swimming, taking walks, or just hanging out on the beach. In her spare time, she enjoys listening to music, reading, cooking and gardening. At the top of her list is spending time with her family.
